Baroque nobleman under the protection of five stars

This bachelor thesis deals with the relationship of Adam Franz of Schwarzenberg towards the saint John of Nepomuk. Its main focus lies particularly on the role of the saint in the nobleman's mentality and how it influenced his expressions of piety. It puts emphasis on the form of the Schwarzenberg domain under the influence of the Nepomucean cult. The author analyses the causes and consequences of Schwarzenberg's intimate relationship towards the mentioned saint, which was fully demonstrated during the festivity of the saint's canonisation, to which the author gave a thorough attention. This bachelor thesis doesn't focus only at a concrete noble individual but tries to capture the collective mentality of the baroque man, shaped especially by his religious experiences.

SHRNUTÍ / ABSTRAKT/ ZÁVĚR Během psaní této bakalářské práce jsem se pokusila popsat obsahovost a význam světců a světic v jejich obecném teoretickém a společenském chápání. Především mne zaujala společenská úloha světců a světic, jakožto patronů v rámci lidové zbožnosti a zvyklostí. S vybranými světci jsem se pokusila netradičním způsobem propojit místa v krajině, ve které jsou právě oni uctívání a jsou mocnými ochránci těchto posvěcených míst. Tato specifická místa jsem vybírala ve své rodné krajině Beskyd. Krajina této oblasti a mnou vybraná posvátná místa, mne silně inspirovaly nejen v mé výtvarné realizaci, ale také v plánování pedagogických úkolů pro děti ve věkovém rozmezí 6-10 let. Posvátná místa, mající svého patrona, ukryta i v těch nejhlubších lesích nebo označující bod, ve kterém se křižují dvě polní cesty, budou vždy důležitým prvkem pro naši společnost. Člověk věřící nebo ne, vždy bude cítit něco nepopsatelného z těchto míst. Bude si říkat, že daný patron zde drží svou ochranou ruku, nebo bude věřit v magickou sílu ukrytou v přírodě z předkřesťanských dob. Stále však tato místa v sobě ponesou příběhy a legendy svatých. A nejen ty. Skrze tato místa se budou stále vanout příběhy lidí, jako podzimní chladný vánek, který vdechuje krajině posvátnou energii. Posvátná místa, která jsou zasvěcená už...

7 Abstract The aim of this thesis is to clear up the role of human in Schopenhauer's philosophical thinking. This goal could have been achieved only by clarifying the world's metaphysical substance. This substance proved to be the cruel will that manifests itself through the platonic ideas. It was shown that each human being is part of this eternal substance. Intellect, as explained in the thesis, is primarily mere instrument of the will designed to deliver motives. For this reason, the majority of people in different ways continually keep satisfying thein needs, therefore almost everyone enjoys the opinion of will affirmation. People constantly succumb to disilusion, which proved to be egoism. Therefore, what appears to be the greatest good for most of us is actually only good for the evil substance. Blind will plays with us so fraudulent and truly perverse game that most of us can never win. However, I have pointed out that there were some individuals who had been endowed by excessively developed intellect power. Only this paradoxically almost unnaturally developed power of intellect can lead to knowledge that the blind will in its game with people plays unfairly. The main topic of this study is Antonín Jan Kelský, a preacher operating in Smečno and Kněževes nearby Rakovník, and his collections of festive sermons that were published in 1732 and 1734 in two volumes. The subject of the study is mainly the connection between sermons and legends. Less space is devoted to art monuments that were created in Kněževes territory.

The aim of the bacheloral thesis is to describe the image of St. Wenceslas in the selected chronicles of older Czech literature. The primary texts that will serve as the basis of the bacheloral thesis will be especially Kristiánova legenda, Kronika Čechů written by Kosmas, Kronika tak řečeného Dalimila, Kronika česká by Přibík Pulkava z Radenína, a document called O státě českém by Pavel Stránský ze Zapské Stránky, Kronika česká by Václav Hájek z Libočan, Diadochus by Bartoloměj Paprocký z Hlohol a Paprocké Vůle, Poselkyně starých příběhů českých by Jan František Beckovský and an anonymous document called Země dobrá, to jest země česká. This bacheloral thesis will focus on the character of our Czech patron in the light of the description of his personality, life, method of his government, relationship between him and other members of his family and other aspects. These motives will be examined within the primary texts and then compared.

Confrontation of western and eastern spirituality: options and limitations of contemporary approaches the transcendent

The thesis deals with examination of the transcendent in relation to the human being through intraspective and extraspective analysis of some typical differences of eastern and western approach to being. Pointing out some fundamental differences on extraspective level. Searching for possible similarities on intraspective level ? real, imaginary and possible. Inspiration with Jung's collective unconsciousness and individuation process as the possible key to understanding the essence of human as focus of relation of an universal and an individual. The transcendent as a collective goal, or source of conflict? Are eastern and western approaches the transcendent compatible? Is there some essence of the transcendent, which is universal and points to some unbiased form of experience? Integration of consciousness and unconsciousness as the fundamental joint of East and West.
